2023 November Cullercoats December 2023 |
On December 1st an icy blast from the north decended on Cullercoats
coating the village and surrounding district in ice and snow. We had a winter wonderland for about 5 days. Photo left shows the view
of the harbour from the Bank Top.

The Harbour is a popular destination with the public as it has a wonderful enclosed beach ideal for families and children. The north side of the harbour is the area of greatest public use, within easy reach of the bank top cafes and hot food outlets. The South side is for ALL leisure watercraft users, not the north side. Sadly, some paddlecraft users are not following the rules of the harbour. Nearly everywhere in the world watercraft are kept away from the area of greatest public use for obvious safety reasons. |

This is where the famous American artist Winslow Homer had his studio. It was here that Homer painted many of his great works. He lived in Cullercoats from April 1881 - November 1882. |
