2002 August Cullercoats September 2002

Mid-August and Cullercoats has a heatwave. The temperature remains a steady 26C, and the crowds come down from the town. Here you see them making their way down John Street past the famous Copper Kettle, and down onto the beach which you see in the photo below.

Above photos taken at noon, August 16th, bottom left at 6.15pm. They show a busy seafront, and many parents stayed until dusk before setting off home. The evening photo shows the DFDS ferry on the horizon making its way from the Tyne to Amsterdam.
