2005 August Cullercoats September 2005

On a warm, sunny day the sea can look inviting, but remains an environment that must be treated with care and consideration. Beach Safety is very important for all users to observe, so that they can minimise any risks. The Cullercoats RNLI Station, pictured in action here, have had a busy summer.

The photo left, taken on the morning of 14th August, shows the rescue by the Beach Lifeguards, assisted by the RNLI, of a lone diver who found himself in difficulties in the harbour. The diver was quickly pulled to safety, and was found to be traumatized but unharmed. Harbour users should observe beach safety, take advice if required, and not take unnesessary risks.
