Cullercoats Harbour Day, July 29th 2000

RNLI - Cullercoats Lifeboat Station annual Harbour Day took place on the 29th July 2000, in excellent weather. This is a fund-raising event for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, which is dedicated to saving lives of those in distress at sea. Cullercoats Lifeboat Station has a reputation for a carnival atmosphere at its Harbour Day,and the crowds who packed the beach were not disappointed.
The bands played, stalls provided food, goods, and the chance to win exotic prizes.Did you win that trip to Norway for two ?. It seemed that half of Newcastle had come down to join in the fun. The chance to see the canoe race was worth the trip...with the crew of the Cullercoats Lifeboat having to pick up the losers from the middle of the bay.
Can you spot anyone in the crowd? Have a look at the Harbour Day photogallery. Dont forget that you can look at upcoming Cullercoats events in the Beacon now on-line for all to see.
