2004 RNLI Cullercoats Harbour Day July 31st 2004

Harbour Day got off to brisk start, with busy, crowded stalls and a steady stream of visitors all day. The weather was overcast with some rain in the late afternoon. This did not put off the many families who came for the day, and the beach filled up to the edge of the water.

There were the displays from the Cullercoats Lifeboat crew, and they were joined at 2pm by the RAF rescue helicopter from Boulmer, when they did a joint exercise to demonstrate rescue methods. The TVLB showed how a shore to ship rescue would be carried out. Stalls catered for children, and beach games were laid on. There were food stalls, refreshments, and the legendary kipper buns quickly sold out.
